Remembering Beat Poet and Holocaust Survivor ruth weiss

ruth weiss fans:

It is no secret that ruth was a very dear friend to me. I have neglected this personal site of mine for a long time, as I haven't had much to say about my own works. Now wish to draw your attention to two things.

The second is about the launch of the ruth weiss foundation tomorrow,  11/13, which is dedicated to supporting female writers, artists, musicians, and dancers. It was something ruth felt very passionate about, and I am pleased to be a part of it, however small. This is a new foundation--bright and shiny. It will raise money to offer scholarships for writers in need, and promote the work and legacy of ruth's lifetime on Earth through a museum tour and educational opportunities.

The online launch of the foundation, which will have merchandise and books for sale, is tomorrow evening. You can find that event and many others here, such as the Q&A for the brilliant documentary of ruth's life, ruth weiss: GODDESS OF THE BEAT, which happens Saturday, 11/14.

Click on what you want to attend and a description with an eventbrite link will be there for tickets.

Her [online] Celebration if Life, featuring performances and readings from her friends and fellow poets/musicians will be this Sunday, 11/15. I will be performing two poems written in her honor. I will update this post with a final list of presenters/performers as soon as it is finalized (one has yet to confirm).

Tickets are free, but donations would be most welcome. Here is the link to reserve your seat, and enjoy the show.

I hope you are able to attend. Rare merchandise and books by ruth will be available for sale, all proceeds to benefit the foundation.
